Mission

Conservation and community development go hand in hand.

To fulfil the mission of Twiga Trails Safari Africa, we work hand in hand with local communities to promote sustainable livelihoods that coexist harmoniously with wildlife and the natural environment.

Our commitment and passion are guided by four key pillars: Through these pillars, Twiga Trails Safari Africa strives to create meaningful, lasting impact for both people and the landscapes we are privileged to operate within.

Community Empowerment

[01]

Education

We are committed to expanding learning opportunities and empowering young people within the communities where we operate. We believe that education is a powerful driver of long-term conservation, leadership, and economic independence. Through our Bursary Program, we support deserving students in primary and secondary schools, helping to ease the financial burden on families and ensure that the learners continue their studies. Our goal is to nurture future generation who will champion conservation and sustainable development within their own communities.

We also support local schools by providing library books, learning materials, and classroom furniture, creating more conducive and inspiring learning environments. By strengthening school infrastructure and access to resources, we help improve both literacy levels and overall academic performance. Beyond the classroom, we promote holistic development through mentorship programs integrated with sports activities. Sports provide a platform to build confidence, teamwork, discipline, and leadership skills while offering young people role models and guidance.

Health Care

We are committed to promoting informed, healthy, and empowered communities through awareness and education on sensitive but critical issues. In partnership with local community groups, youth champions, and creative arts initiatives, we organize regular community outreach and educational forums at local markets and gathering spaces. These interactive sessions use drama, dialogue, and open discussions to raise awareness about HIV & AIDS prevention, testing, stigma reduction, and the dangers of Female Genital Cutting (FGC).

A key component of our outreach is Personal Hygiene and Menstrual Health Education. We provide practical training to girls and young women on menstrual health management, body awareness, and reproductive health, helping to break stigma and misinformation surrounding menstruation. Through our Sanitary Kit Program, we distribute reusable sanitary kits to schoolgirls, ensuring they have safe, reliable menstrual products. This initiative helps reduce school absenteeism, restore dignity, and improve confidence among girls who would otherwise miss classes due to lack of resources.

Community Empowerment

We believe that conservation thrives when communities thrive. Through a range of revenue-generating projects and self-help initiatives, we support local communities in building sustainable livelihoods and gaining greater economic independence and decision-making power. We organize youth empowerment workshops focused on job readiness skills such as CV writing, interview preparation, career guidance, and entrepreneurship development. In addition, we facilitate language and basic computer training programs, equipping young people with practical skills that increase their employability.

Our community-based income-generating activities include tree nurseries, cultural dance groups and beekeeping projects. We collaborate with local women’s self-help groups, supporting them in producing and marketing authentic handmade crafts and artisan products. These women supply items to local markets and tourism outlets, generating direct income for their households. Through creativity and innovation, many have embraced the use of recyclable and reusable materials to produce unique handcrafted goods, promoting both sustainability and entrepreneurship.

Conservation and Environment

As passionate conservation advocates, we work closely with local communities to protect wildlife habitats and promote responsible conservancy management. Twiga Trails Safari Africa supports initiatives that reduce human–wildlife conflict through collaboration with conservation partners, community leaders, and local stakeholders. One of our most impactful initiatives is “Kids on Safari”, where local school children are given the opportunity to experience game drives and educational visits. This firsthand exposure helps them appreciate the value of wildlife, tourism, and conservation.

To further strengthen environmental education, we support the formation of Wildlife Clubs in local schools and host Art Bootcamps focused on conservation themes. Through community-based reforestation project, we aim at restoring degraded areas, increasing tree cover, and promoting climate resilience. Guided by our commitment to sustainable tourism, we embrace environmentally responsible practices with the long-term vision of preserving Africa’s natural heritage for generations to come.
