Activities Soysambu Conservancy A Wildlife Conservancy in Kenya located between Lake Elmenteita Wildlife Sanctuary and Lake Nakuru National Park. The UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kenya Lakes System in the Great Rift Valley, includes Lakes Elmenteita, Nakuru and Bogoria. Soysambu Conservancy is also part of a Ramsar Site and Important Bird Area. The Conservancy hosts a significant population of the Rothschild’s Giraffe-Nubian Giraffe. Lake Nakuru National Park Lake Nakuru boasts an abundance of wildlife and spectacular landscapes. Think black and white rhinos, lions, leopards, cheetahs and hippo occupying euphorbia forests, acacia woodlands, savannah grasslands and rocky escarpments around a shallow, alkaline lake. Up until 2014, Lake Nakuru was renowned for its vast flamingo population, which covered the lake in a blanket of pink plumes. However, rising water levels from heavy flooding have drastically reduced this phenomenon, shrinking their breeding and feeding grounds. Flamingos may not be as abundant as they once were, but a safari at Lake Nakuru still delivers some of the best wildlife viewing in Kenya. Lake Elementaita Wildlife Sanctuary Between Lake Naivasha and Lake Nakuru lies another of Kenya’s alkaline lakes, Lake Elementaita. The area is much less visited than other natural attractions in the region, so you enjoy a sense of privacy and solitude in a wondrous volcanic landscape. Much of your activity-enriched trip to Lake Elementaita takes place within the conservancy that serves as a sanctuary for nationally threatened colobus monkeys, endangered Rothschild giraffes, elusive predators, plains game, avi-fauna and many other species.
